Temporary Assistant Chief Constable (T/ACC) Paul Telford began his career in policing at Leicestershire Constabulary in 1989. Mr Telford has held range of senior strategic roles across the Force, serving as: Deputy Basic Command Unit (BCU) Commander for the City of Leicester BCU from April 2007 to September 2009; and BCU Commander of the South Area BCU from November 2009 to April 2010.

In April 2010, as a Detective Chief Superintendent, Mr Telford designed, implemented and managed the Delivering Justice Directorate (DJD) contributing to the Force’s £15million budgetary savings in response to the Comprehensive Spending Review. In November 2011 he became acting T/ACC (Crime) and now has corporate responsibility for the Delivering Justice Department which includes, among many units, the following business areas: Major Crime; Special Operations; Hostage & Crisis Negotiation; and Public Protection.

He has been awarded the Long Service and Good Conduct medal for 22 years’ service, and in 2012, received the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in recognition of his commitment to the police service.
