National Stalking Week Online Meeting - April 18
Domestic Violence - March 5
Domestic Violence - November 23
A range of experts will be available to discuss a variety of domestic violence topics on Wednesday evening (November 23).
The event is happening as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Week, which this year has as its theme the lesser known victims of domestic violence – men, and members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual communities.
Sergeant Jo Fyson, from Leicestershire Police’s Safeguarding team, said: “This is an opportunity for people to find out about the support and services the police and our partners can offer victims of domestic violence.
“You won’t have to give your details to take part in the web chat. We will be giving general advice and dealing with general queries, and we can also signpost individuals to organisations that can best help them with their specific issues.”
Those taking part in the web chat are:
- Sergeant Jo Fyson, Leicestershire Police;
- Sam Butler, the Domestic Violence Integrated Response Project;
- Darren Goddard, Leicestershire Police;
- Meena Kumari, Foundation Housing.
The web chat takes place between 6pm and 7pm on Wednesday, November 23. To join in or to find out more, visit www.leics.police.uk/webchat.

"Honour Based" Domestic Violence - 21st April
On Thursday April 21, at 6pm a live online chat will be taking place focusing on issues around ‘honour based violence’ and forced marriages.
The online chat, which is entirely anonymous, will enable members of the public to find out exactly what services are available to victims and also find out a little more about ‘honour’ based abuse itself.
Answering your questions will be Sgt Jo Fyson, an officer from the police’s Domestic Violence unit and Meena Kumari director of H.O.P.E Training and Consultancy and team leader from the Housing Foundation.
The online chat does not have the capacity to discuss personal problems or deal with crime reports. What it can do is direct you through to the right people to help you with your issues and give you an understanding of exactly what domestic abuse can consist of.
