Police motorcyclist

PC Bryn Sabin
Name: PC Bryn Sabin
Job: Police Motorcyclist
Base: Road Policing Unit, Force Headquarters
Why did you decide to become a road traffic officer?
I have loved motorcycles since I was 16 years old and had always wanted to work for the police.
So when I joined Leicestershire Constabulary I wanted to work within the road policing unit which would let me combine my hobby with my work!
What do you do when you are at work?
Every day as a traffic officer is different. Sometimes I patrol the motorways to make sure everyone is driving safely, and if not, I stop them and tell them how they can drive differently. I also go to accidents and help people that have been hurt.
Motorcycles are used at football and rugby matches, and also escort important visitors to the area.
What is the best thing about your job?
The role involves a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that the hard work you have done in patrolling the streets and promoting road safety can save lives.
...and the worst thing?
It's not very nice going to accidents when people have been hurt.
It is very important that you remember to think about road safety when you go out. If you go out in a vehicle always remember to wear your seatbelt and remind everyone else to as well. If you are out walking make sure that you take care, especially when crossing busy roads.
If you had one wish what would it be?
I would wish that all drivers remembered what they were taught in their driving lessons and put it into practice every time they went out on the roads. This would mean that there wouldn't be so many accidents, which would be good news for everybody.
