Getting Personal with Criminals

Getting Personal with Criminals
Getting Personal with Criminals means three simple things.
- Firstly, upholding the right of members of the public not to be victims of crime; to live their lives confident of their safety.
- Secondly, ensuring that we uphold offenders’ rights to be caught, prosecuted and, where convicted, punished for their crimes.
- Finally, making sure that the public and criminals are confident of the professionalism of Leicestershire Constabulary and its determination to use the law to protect the public and to pursue offenders.
If the principles of Getting Personal with Criminals are that simple, then delivering it is even more so.
We will drive down the amount of crime in our communities by identifying where and when offences occur and how and why they are being committed. Good analysis will ensure we deploy officers in the right place, at the right time, using the right tactics to prevent crime.
We will hold criminals to account for their offending by clearly identifying through evidence and intelligence those few criminals who constantly prey on our communities. We will then use every power the law gives us or any other agency to target those criminals and either deter them from further offences or prosecute them for their crimes.
We will make the public and criminals confident of our professionalism by treating them as individuals, and by ensuring that our actions are at all times lawful and proportionate to their needs or the risks they pose.
Getting Personal with Criminals means protecting our communities from harm.
