Appeal following criminal damage in Glenfield

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident of criminal damage at a shop on Stamford Street in Glenfield.

The incident happened at about 9pm on Saturday October 31, when an object, believed to have been a bottle, was thrown at a window at the front of the shop, causing it to smash.

Nobody was injured.

A youth seen walking across the road after the window smashed is believed to be involved in the incident.

PC Matthew Turner, who is investigating the incident, said: “The shop owner believes there were witnesses to what happened. I am particularly keen to speak to a couple who were seen standing opposite the shop at the time of the incident who may have seen the suspect. If you saw what happened or know who might be responsible then please contact me.

“Stamford Street is likely to have been busy that Saturday night as it was Halloween. Did you see somebody throwing an object at a shop window? If so, please contact police or Crimestoppers, which can be done anonymously.”

Anybody with any information is asked to contact PC 1851 Matthew Turner on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1851.
