Officers name man who died in Copt Oak fatal

Officers from Leicestershire Constabulary's Serious Collision Investigation Unit have named the man who died following a fatal road traffic collision in Copt Oak.

The incident happened just after 4pm on Sunday November 15, 2009 on the B591, Copt Oak Road near to the junction with Beacon Road.

The collision involved a silver Renault Clio and a red Ford Focus.

The driver of the Clio, Mr Sydney George Humby, (94) of Birstall, Leicester received serious injuries and was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary. He died in the early hours of Monday November 16.

The driver and passenger in the Focus were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor injuries.

Detective Constable David Sharpe, from the Serious Collision Investigation unit, said: “The Clio was travelling towards Loughborough and the Focus in the opposite direction towards Coalville when the collision happened.

“We would like anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw either vehicles prior to the collision to call us.
