Appeal following incident in Melton

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident at a pub in Nottingham Street, Melton.

The incident happened at about midnight on Wednesday January 27, when an altercation took place between two men inside the pub, leaving one man injured.

The two men were made to leave, but the altercation continued outside and staff at the pub had to split them up.

One man sustained injuries to his face and received hospital treatment.

Two men, aged 22 and 28-years-old, have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

PC James Hirst, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We are appealing to anyone who socialises in the area to contact us if they have any information about the incident.

“Thankfully no-one else was injured but we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the altercation and the events leading it.

“If you know the two men or saw the incident please call us, the information you have could help us with our investigation.”
