Police appeal after dog walker threatened

Police are appealing for witnesses following an incident in Beaumont Leys Lane, Leicester.

The incident happened at about 10.30pm just over two weeks ago on Wednesday January 20, when the 40-year-old victim was shouted at by a man for letting her dog off its lead.

She put her dog back on its lead and walked straight past him.

A short while later the victim was walking back along Beaumont Leys Lane, just past Collett Road, when she heard the same man shouting at her again.

The man, who was walking a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, began swearing at the woman and threatened her and her dog.

The victim walked away from the man back to her home where she called the police.

The man is described as being of dual heritage, around 5’6” tall, in his late twenties and had long black dreadlocks tied into a ponytail. He was wearing a navy blue tracksuit, white trainers and was carrying a green plastic bottle.

PC James Muzzell, the officer investigating the incident, said: “The victim felt very scared and threatened by the incident and reported it to us as soon as she got home.

“The man was being quite loud so if you live on Beaumont Leys Lane you may have looked outside to see what the noise was.

“If you live or drive through the area we would like you to think back. Did you see the two dog walkers? Did you hear what the man said to the victim? Did you see where he went to after? Do you know him or do you often see him walking the dog in the area?

“We would like to hear any information you have so please call us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 2162 James Muzzell on 0116 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 2162. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
