Police have released an Eigan fit image of a man they are trying to trace in connection with the theft of copper piping from a house in Market Harborough.

The incident happened at the beginning of June (Monday June 8) when two men took copper piping that had been left at the side of a house, on Highcross Street.

When the men were challenged by the victim they said they had been given permission to take the piping by another occupant at the house. It later became apparent that this was untrue.

The two men left the house and walked towards a new white transit van parked near to the house.

One of the men is described as white, in his early forties, around 5’6” tall and of a stocky build. He had short light brown hair and had an unshaven appearance. When he spoke it was clear to the victim that his English wasn’t very good. He was wearing a green longsleeve pullover with a yellow logo on the front of it.

The second man is described as white, around 6ft tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a dark blue jack and had short dark hair.

PC Timothy Bennett, the officer investigating the incident, said: “Investigations into the theft have been ongoing since it happened but we are hoping that the release of this picture is going to get that piece of information that has been missing.

“Do you recognise the man? Have you been approached by him? Has he taken anything from you? Do you know him or recognise him? Any information you have on this man picture could help us with our investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 1430 Timothy Bennett on Leicester (0116) 222 2222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer's identification number 1430.  Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
