Appeal to find bogus police officers

Do you recognise this man?
Officers from the city have released the images of two men they are trying to trace in connection with a burglary in Leicester.
The incident happened in September last year (Wednesday September 30, 2009) when two men posing as police officers stole items from a storage unit at a business premises in Leicester. The two men approached staff at the business and, after flashing what looked like a police badge, told them they had a warrant to search a unit.
PC Gail Warden, the officer investigating the incident, said: “We have been carrying out enquiries since the burglary happened but we are hoping that by releasing these images we will get that key piece of information we have been looking for.
“The bogus officers told staff at the business that they were from Nuneaton police. Since September we have contacted neighbouring forces, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, Derbyshire and West Midlands, in order to ensure that they are not serving police officers.
“We would like people reading this to have a good look at the men in the pictures. They may be friends of yours or maybe you work with them? Perhaps you don’t know them but recognise them from your area, like your local shop or pub? If so, then please call us and help us with our investigation.
“I would like to take this opportunity to remind people that any genuine police officer will always carry a legitimate police identification that you can ask to see. If you are approached by someone who claims to be a police officer who you feel suspicious of call us immediately.”
Anyone with any information about this incident should contact PC 4500 Gail Warden on 0116 2222222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer identification number 4500.
