Appeal to trace man following burglary at Somerfield

Police have issued CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with a burglary at Somerfield in Leicester.

The incident happened at around 6.25pm on Saturday January 16, at the store in Hillsborough Road.

A man walked into the shop and stole money from two of the unattended tills before leaving the store. He entered and left the store using the Swinford Avenue entrance.

The man is described as black, aged around 25-years-old. He wore glasses, a dark hat covering his ears and a leather jacket.

PC Mike Steer from Welford Road, Local Policing Unit said “We’d like to people to take a good look at the photos and footage to see if they recognise this man.

“The shop was busy with shoppers on that Saturday evening. Think back, were you in Somerfield at that time and do you remember seeing this man? Or maybe you’ve seen him in there on another occasion?

“Any information you have could help us with our investigation.”
