Police have released the Eigan fit image of a man they are trying to trace following the report of an assault at a home in Ashby.

Officers from Ashby released an appeal for witnesses late last week (Friday February 19) and have now created an Eigan fit image of the suspect with the victim.

The incident happened at about 11.40am on Thursday February 11, when the victim opened her front door to a man who asked to use her toilet.

When she refused to let him in he became violent and tried to force his way into her home. He then assaulted her, leaving her with an injury to her stomach.

The man then ran away from the house onto nearby fields towards the Westfields Estate.

The victim did not attend hospital for treatment.

The man is described as white, about 18-years-old, around 5’9” tall and of very slim build. He had a thin, spotty face and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a dark red hooded top with writing across the chest and navy blue jogging bottoms.

Officers are urging anyone who spotted a man similar to the one in the picture in the area to contact them.

PC Matt Garside, the officer investigating this incident, said: “We have been working closely with the victim since the assault and have now managed to create this image of the suspect.

“As part of our investigation we have spoken to a number of people but we are still looking for more information. If you live in the area and we haven’t spoken to you yet, please think back to last Thursday morning.

“Can you remember seeing a man similar to the one in the photo? Did you see him running across the fields? Do you recognise him from the area or know him? If so please contact us and help us with our enquires.

“Incidents such as this are extremely rare and I would like to let the community know that we are doing all we can to locate this man.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 2854 Matt Garside on 0116 2222222, follow the instructions to leave a message for a police officer and when prompted key in the officer identification number 2854. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous on 0800 555 111.
