Tape Summary Clerk
The position of Tape Summary Clerk requires individuals to be fast and accurate audio typists.
This a vital role within the Force, as tape recorded interviews that have been conducted by officers whilst defendants are in police custody, all need to be transcribed.
Transcripts are an important and necessary part of a case and a crucial part of the process in solving crimes. Once transcripts have been produced, they are then submitted as an exhibit in any subsequent court cases.
The role involves a great deal of hard work and dedication when dealing with major incidents and includes tremendous job satisfaction when the outcome of a case is influenced by a transcript you had prepared.
Tape Summary Clerks need to have an open-mind and an ability to work in a highly confidential environment, as the taped interviews deal with a variety of offences, including sensitive issues.
