How to contact your neighbourhood officer

There are a number of ways in which you can contact the police officer who has responsibility for the area where you live with non-urgent enquiries.

If you know their identification number, you can leave a message for them on the Force's voice messaging service. To leave a message telephone Leicestershire Constabulary on Leicester (0116) 222 2222 and follow the instructions.

When prompted enter the officer’s identification number, preceded by zeros where appropriate – for example if the officer’s number is 123 enter 0123.

You will then hear a short recorded message and be invited to leave a message.

If you’re not sure who your beat officer is or if you want to send emails to your beat officer you can find out through this website. Simply click on Policing in your area’ and either enter your postcode or use the maps to navigate to the local policing unit that covers where you live.

Each local policing unit (LPU) page includes an introduction to the area covered by the LPU, a message from the local policing unit commander, local news and witness appeals, details of how to get to the police station and opening times, and details of specific beats and beat officers.

To find the beat for where you live click on the ‘Neighbourhood beats’ link. From here you can find out details of your neighbourhood beat team and have the option to ‘Email your beat officer’.

You will be invited to enter your name and comments before sending and if you require a response, you can enter your postal address, telephone number or email address.

The voice messaging service and email your beat officer facility can be used to make contact with members of Leicestershire Constabulary with non-urgent enquiries and are not monitored 24-hours a day.

To report non-urgent minor crime or in a non-emergency, for example not requiring police attendance, telephone Leicester (0116) 222 2222 or in an emergency, for example when life is in danger or a crime is being committed, dial 999.
