What is a detected crime?

Sanctioned detections refer to detected crimes where the suspect has been dealt with by way of a charge, summons, caution, formal reprimand/warning or the offence has been taken into consideration by the courts.

Detected crimes are crimes that have been recorded by the police and where a suspect has been identified and has been made aware that they will be recorded as being responsible for the crime.
