Tackling serious crime in Leicestershire

It is the aim of Leicestershire Constabulary to be 'protecting our communities by reducing crime and anti-social behaviour' and in achieving this aim the Crime Support department offers support in tackling organised crime groups and criminals who choose to operate in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Crime affects us all and the criminality of organised groups makes the lives of many people a misery. In particular, we focus on the people who damage the lives of many through the distribution of drugs and we work not only to bring them to justice but also take from them the money they have accrued.

The Crime Support department makes a major contribution to public safety through the work of the Public Protection Management Team, the Paedophile and Online Investigation Team, the Solace team and the Child Protection Unit. This latter unit protects the most vulnerable in our society and tackles serious and vile crimes against children in a skilled and committed manner.

Murder always hits the headlines and the specialist and skilled individuals within the Major Crime Investigation Section are among the first who respond to this type of crime.

Everyone in the department is committed to making Leicestershire and Rutland a safer place to live and work, and in that the help and support of the communities we police is vital.
