Solace Unit

The Solace unit commenced in January 2007. The Solace team comprises of two DS and ten SOLOs (Sexual Offence Liaison Officers) whose sole role is to provide a service to victims of rape and assault by penetration.

A SOLO will take the report from a victim, deal with all medical and evidence gathering issues and remain the point of contact throughout the entire process until the matter is dealt with.

Expertise have been built up in the unit and very strong links have been forged with partner agencies. SOLOs are also actively involved in ongoing training to first response officers on BCU.
