The Tactical Support Group (TSG) is part of the Operations Department based at Force Headquarters in Enderby.

The department provides specialist support to officers across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and our partner agencies.

The 29 officers, who work in 3 teams made-up of eight police constables and a supervisor, overseen by one Inspector all undergo intensive training to enable them to undertake specialist roles.

This includes carrying out a number of different searches including counter-terrorism, missing person, V.I.P visits to the county and major crime scene searches. They have the capability of conducting shallow water searches.

House-to-house enquiries for major incidents such as murder are carried out by officers from the TSG. They are trained in body recovery and are able to assist with disaster victim identification following a major disaster.

The TSG are all trained to deal with public order situations and will assist in the policing of all major events like Leicester City football matches, Download music festival and the Caribbean Carnival.

The TSG are the specialist method of entry team and are capable of gaining entry to numerous different types of properties and strongholds.

They also work with colleagues and partner agencies in the event of a CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radio-active and Nuclear) incident.
