Publication scheme

Leicestershire Constabulary is committed to delivering an open and transparent service wherever possible and it is the Force's intention to publish information in its publication scheme that the public has an interest in viewing.

However as the Force is committed to protecting the communities it serves, preventing and detecting crime it must be recognised that certain information, in the public interest, should not be disclosed.

Information concerning ongoing investigations, investigative methods, intelligence and the use of related operational techniques must be protected. They are central to the maintenance of a safe and just society.

In this respect, Leicestershire Constabulary will, where appropriate, apply reasonable consideration of the exemptions afforded under the Freedom of Information Act, particularly; Section 30 - investigation and proceeding conducted by public authorities, Section 31 - law enforcement and Section 41 - information provided in confidence.

The person responsible for maintaining the publication scheme for Leicestershire Constabulary is the Deputy Chief Constable.

The information security manager is responsible for maintaining the scheme on a daily basis.

Aim of the publication scheme

The aim of the publication scheme is to set out:

  • What information Leicestershire Constabulary publishes or intends to publish as a matter of course;
  • How the Force will publish this information;
  • Whether the information will be available free of charge or on payment.
