North West Leicestershire Loughborough Melton Rutland Charnwood

Welcome to the North BCU

The North Basic Command Unit (BCU) has responsibility for policing the areas covered by Charnwood Borough Council, North West Leicestershire District Council, Melton Borough Council and Rutland County Council from our five main police stations.

The Force's boundaries match those of local authorities.

Officers on the North BCU face a wide variety of challenges to meet the needs of people who live, work and commute through this part of the county. Loughborough has a large University with an international reputation for sporting excellence and a large student population.

Coalville, Shepshed and Ashby are all busy market towns.  Each has a thriving night time economy which has the potential to bring with it the drink-related problems normally associated with city centres. Syston supports growing residential developments and a significant rural community.

Police officers based at Quorn have responsibility for patrolling both its large residential villages and some of the most attractive beauty spots in the region.
