“Our local community priorities continue to be; tackling and reducing crime, tackling and reducing anti-social behaviour and promoting road safety in Rutland. I will continue to work very closely with our partnership agencies to make Rutland a safe place to live and work.”
  • PC Laurie Appleton PC Laurie Appleton (1742) I joined Leicestershire Constabulary in March 1998 and, having initially worked on the Charnwood area for three years, I have policed Rutland ever since.

For the past three years I have been the beat officer for Uppingham and have worked closely with my neighbourhood team colleagues and the community. I am now looking forward to a new challenge of the Rutland North Beat and meeting the community and aim to spend as much time as possible on the beat, allowing me to deal with localised issues.

  • PC Mark White PC Mark White (75) I have been a Police Officer serving Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for the last 22 years having joined the organisation in 1988 and have completed a number of roles in that time ranging from Local Police Officer in Beaumont Leys to Detective investigating Serious and Organised Crime at National level. I have lived in Oakham since 2003 and have ties to the local community and organisations/clubs.

I am returning to uniformed policing as a Neighbourhood Officer for the N35 Rutland North Beat I see this as a valuable opportunity for me to form associations and links with all of our partner agencies and local groups to work towards a safer and less Anti Social society particularly within the communities in the beat area and for me to further develop my community based policing skills. I am looking forward to being a visible presence in the villages in the North of Rutland and to meeting as many people as possible to discuss and address their concerns and issues. I hope to be seen on a bicycle and on foot, when appropriate and in police vehicles at other times, around the beat in the coming weeks familiarising myself with the area and the folks on it whilst addressing the needs and expectations of the residents and businesses of N35.
  • Liam Bourne PCSO Liam Bourne (6049) "Since joining Leicestershire Constabulary in 2007, I have been working from Uppingham police station covering Uppingham Town.

  • Steve Houghton PCSO Steve Houghton (6127) I joined Leicestershire constabulary in the summer of 2007 after working in the agricultural industry for over 20 years.
I aim to be a highly visible and approachable presence in the villages of north Rutland, working alongside the rest of my neighbourhood beat team to combat and reduce rural crime and to work in partnership with the local community to tackle the issues that matter to them.
I will also be working with the force wildlife liaison team to deal with any wildlife based issues in Rutland.
