Insp Neal Holland July Update 22nd July 2010, Insp Neal Holland

 Thank you for taking time to view this website and read my update on crime and neighbourhood issues that may concern you as a resident or visitor to Market Harborough & Lutterworth.

 The Year ahead April 2010 - March 2011

  Our focus this year will be for my officers and our partners to work together to make Market Harborough & Lutterworth a safer place to live and work, to this end we will concentrate on those crimes that matter most to you;

 Burglary - Dwelling Houses

Acquisitive crime - theft from vehicles

Anti Social Behaviour - in its many forms focussing on repeat victimisation & protecting vulnerable people

 Policing Update;

 - In June the Mkt Harborough Town Centre Team ran the repeat of an Operation from a month earlier whereby they focussed on the use of mobile phones whilst driving and also failing to wear a seatbelt. The first operation was to raise awareness through education and the second was to enforce relevant legislation. We prosecuted 26 motorists (2 x using mobiles & 24 for not wearing a seatbelt) by way of the fixed penalty notice system. One member of the public clearly did not heed the warning from the first occasion and got a ticket the second time.

- Operation Utah & Rogue Traders. These two separate Operations in June saw the targeting of several keys thoroughfares (A5 & A6) through the district. Due to the multi-agency participation we were able to seize several vehicles, Customs & Excise issued several on-the spot fines for the use of 'Red Diesel', Traffic officers from our HQ issued 20+ fixed penalty notices for all manner of motoring offences and we gained valuable intelligence as to who is travelling through Harborough intent on committing crime elsewhere.

- We are currently seeking your help to identify those offenders who are stealing 'Catalytic Converters' in broad daylight from many of our Car Parks across the District?

- ASB - we are now into the School Summer holiday period and my Neighbourhood Officers are poised to deal with any hot-spot locations where youths are gathering and causing a nuisance to local residents. Please let us know if you wish to report any such incidents.

 - Crime overall continues to fall across the district and I am very pleased with the performance and dedication to duty that my officers are showing at a time when there is much speculation around public sector finances. Let me reassure you that locally delivered Neighbourhood Policing remains key to this Local delivery of frontline services.

 If you have any other concerns please use this website to signpost you to your local officer and make them aware so we can address your concerns.

If you wish to remain anonymous please use the Crime stoppers line 0800 555 111.

 Many thanks

 Inspector Neal Holland
