You told us…
Parking issues on the main road through the centre of Cosby village, especially at the Croft Road T-junction where the pedestrian crossing is some times obstructed by cars parked illegally on the zig-zag lines; this problem is at its worst between 5pm and 7pm, seven days a week;
We responded…
by carrying out targeted foot patrols here between 5pm and 7pm to gauge the extent of the parking problem. We were able to advise drivers and monitor the situation. Due to visitors to the Co-op and the Mercury News Shop creating a high demand for parking, members of the public began using the disused office premises forecourt located opposite as a way to ease congestion on the road. Blaby District Council have re-painted the road markings making them more visible and easier for road users to abide by. Since this time the parking problem has decreased, however there will always be a demand for parking spaces due to the popularity of the village amenities and the limited space available for vehicles. For this reason we have decided to close the priority but still monitor the situation.
You told us…
Congregating youths causing a nuisance to residents, retailers and visitors at The Bank and Brook Court, Countesthorpe, between 6pm and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
We responded…
by carrying out targeted foot patrols on Friday and Saturday evenings and engaging with local youths. We have also worked with local youth groups to provide activities for young people in the village. The problem has not been completely solved due to the location having a fast food shop and newsagents and we will continue to work with partners to address this. Youths who have been identified as causing any problems have been dealt with in partnership with Blaby District Council and have been sent warning letters. Consultation has identified that the problem has been significantly reduced.
