JAG updates
Every month the Police, partner agencies and members of the local councils as representatives from the communities take part in the JAG. The JAG (joint action group) is a forum for the local community to air some of the local issues, the JAG then try to solve these issues jointly.
- 1) Is the 'bottle and can' ban working in LFE? Ps Payne the neighbourhood sergeant for LFE is compiling a report to assess if the 'bottle and can' ban is effective. Ps Payne has completed the report and as a conclusion the "bottle and can ban" is not effective as there is legislation under the confiscation of alcohol act that cover the bottle and can ban".
- 2) Speeding on Hospital Lane, Blaby. Local officers have paid special attention to Hospital Lane and they have also tasked traffic management to place a speed monitoring device at the location. As a result of the speed monitoring device the local neighbourhood officers have made this problem a problem solving plan and will tackle it jointly with partners. The neighbourhood team have received training in laser speeding devices and will be targeting speeding vehicles.
- 3) Anti-social behaviour in the area of the doctors surgery in Countesthorpe. The local PCSOs have paid close attention to this area of the village conducting foot patrols and speaking to the public. The neighbourhood officer is also conducting foot patrols during the evenings when these youths are gathering.
- 4) The local community have some concerns about the local playing fields in Sapcote being damaged. The neighbourhood team has conducted patrols in and around the area, youths were adviced at the location. There have been no further reports.
- 5) The local residents in Blaby were concerned about a particular property and the residents dealing drugs from that property. I am pleased to report that a drugs warrant was executed at the address where a small number of persons were arrested. They were given adult cautions in relation to drug offences and the details were passed onto our partners at the housing authority to take appropriate action.
