Insp Jon Brown 18th September 2009 18th September 2009, Insp Jon Brown

It has been another busy month at Blaby Local Policing Unit with further arrests in relation to burglaries at Kirby Muxloe and Thorpe Astley.  We have also identified suspects for further theft from motor vehicles offences and fully anticipate their arrests in the very near future.

There is a link on the Leicestershire Constabulary web site, through the Neighbourhood Policing page to a "Consultation Form" which you can complete and submit to the Constabulary.  This will allow you to have your say over what priorities are set in your neighbourhood.  If you want any further information about this then please contact your local neighbourhood team.

Also we are looking at recruiting more people to join the VC Relay messaging system; this is a method the Constabulary uses to pass information out to communities through email, text messages or voice mail messages.  If you would like to join the VC Relay list then again please contact a member of you local neighbourhood team.

Details of your local neighbourhood team are contained on this website and can be accessed by linking on the links next to this blog.

At this months Joint Action Group meeting these were some of the items discussed;

  • 2 week schools car parking initiative, which is in its second week this week.
  • Speeding - a number of police officers and PCSO's are now trained in the use of speeding devices and will be using them to monitor any complaints and to take action where appropriate.
  • Street Pastors will be out on the streets in December this year across the district.

Burglary - Winstanley Ward, Muxloe Ward and Millfield Ward all are shown as above average.  This equates to increase of between 16 and 3 %.  However as I mentioned earlier in my update there have been suspects arrested and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the residents in Kirby Muxloe for their diligence and assistance.  They contacted Pc Sutherley in relation to a burglary in Kirby Muxloe and as a direct result of the information passed a number of suspects were arrested and are still being dealt with as I write this update.

Robbery - Ellis Ward is shown as above average in this area.  This equates to a 0% difference due to there was 1 report last month and 1 this month.

Vehicle Crime - The areas of Winstanley Ward, Cosby and South Whetstone Ward, Fairestone Ward and Normanton Ward are all shown as being above average levels.  This has been high lighted at the station through some analysis prior to this data being published.  As such we are already working on this and have some operations planned to ensure we deal with vehicle crime.

Violent Crime - Enderby and St Johns Ward is shown with an increase in this category however it should also be shown that across all crime Enderby and St Johns Ward has a reduction of 17%.

ASB - Winstanley Ward is shown as being above average and as such will continue to be focused upon under the Anti Social Behaviour patrols on a Friday and Saturday night.  These patrols have been extended beyond the projected closing date of this month, until December.  And will be reviewed again in December.
