Crime mapping update.
1st February 2011, Insp Jon Brown
From today, along with all Police Forces in England and Wales, Leicestershire Constabulary will be publishing street level crime information through a new national website - www.police.uk
This website gives details about the crime and anti-social behaviour that has happened in streets across the UK, by plotting reported crimes and anti-social behaviour onto a digital map at street level on a monthly basis. It also provides details of local neighbourhood policing teams and ways in which the public can support their work.
To ensure the privacy of victims, incidents of crime and anti-social behaviour are mapped to a point on or near to the street where the incident occurred. These are points are known as 'location indicators' and are positioned at the centre point of roads containing twelve or more addresses
When the crime mapping website is located to St John's, Enderby, it identifies that there have been 69 incidents of anti-social behaviour located to the 'location indicator' on the B4114 at St. Johns, for the period of December 2010.
Following a review of this data, it has been identified that the 69 anti-social behaviour incidents consist of incidents where there has been no identifiable complainant, for example, hoax telephone calls. The administrative and working practices of Leicestershire Constabulary has been to locate such incidents to the location where the call has been received and on these occasions, this would be to our command and control centre which is located at Police Headquarters, St John's, Enderby.
We are working to resolve this issue, but wish to reassure the residents of St. John's, Enderby, that St. John's is not a hotspot for anti-social behaviour, and that actual incidents of anti-social behaviour in this area are very low.
If you do have concerns that you wish to discuss with your local neighbourhood team they will be more than happy to hear from you and help where ever possible. The three neighbourhood sergeants are,
