We responded…
by continuing to work closely with the Barcelo and Sketchley Grange Hotel we are pleased to report that crime has reduced and both hotels have made great improvements to there security allowing a safer experience for all. The neighbourhood policing team along with support from neighbourhood watch and additional resources from other areas have increased patrols and improved residents awareness of crime prevention measures in the area. Several arrests have been made which has been made possible with the help of highly vigilant residents in this area. In the past few months there has been a 24.1% reduction in theft from motor vehicles.

We responded…
by continuing to respond positively to this issue by using the tiered approach; education, prevention and enforcement. The Community Safety Forum for Burbage which is a partnership of the police, Burbage Parish Council, neighbourhood watch and key community leaders have purchased a variable speed sign. This sign works by displaying the speed of oncoming vehicles and also has a secondary function which is to record the speed data of all passing traffic. The information from this sign has identified where most violations occur which the beat team have used proactively and spent the month of June targeting these locations and enforcing the speed restrictions. In June the neighbourhood policing team issued 38 endorsable fixed penalty notices which carry a £60 fine with three penalty points. Four people have been summonsed to court as their speed was 50mph or over in a 30mph zone. This work is having an impact but we are still catching too many local residents contravening the speed limits. This still remains a high priority for the beat team and we will continue to tackle this problem.
