Insp Richard Ward January/February 2012 9th January 2012, Insp Richard Ward

Hello and welcome to my Local Policing Unit Commander's update for January/February 2012.

We are now approaching the end of our crime recording year and I am pleased to report that crime across the borough has continued to fall. It has been a real challenge to make these reductions and we will continue to work tirelessly to maintain this performance and ensure that we continue to target those individuals that cause the most harm in our communities.

Total crime is down 10.6% (482 fewer victims of crime)

House Burglaries are down by 5.1% (13 fewer houses broken into)

Total Vehicle crime is down 13.5%

Theft Motor Vehicle is down 19.2%

Theft from Motor Vehicle has reduced by 11.8%

All violence offences are down 14.3% (135 fewer offences)

Some of these crimes could have been prevented if simple measures had been used such as locking your car.

You can now keep up to date with what's going on by following me and other Hinckley & Bosworth officers on twitter and facebook. We also run a web chat on the first Tuesday of every month so log onto www.leics.police.uk/hinckleywebchat and have your say.
