BCU commander - C/Supt. Paul Telford

C/Supt. Paul Telford
I am very pleased to have taken up the role of Area Commander for South Leicestershire. I joined Leicestershire Constabulary in 1989 and have worked across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland in a variety of roles.
I am confident that the experience I bring with me will allow the BCU (Basic Command Unit) to continue to build on the good work of my predecessor as Area Commander, Chief Superintendent Garry Forsyth. Under Garry’s guidance the BCU has become one of the best performing of the Home Office’s family of similar areas across the country. Garry is now undergoing further training in anticipation of promotion within the police service, and I wish him well.
I want to provide a policing service that is responsive to the communities of South Leicestershire, that protects the vulnerable and tackles negative role models that blight communities. We alone cannot achieve this but by further developing the close working relationship we already have with partners and the public I believe we can further improve the quality of our service and neighbourhoods.
I intend building and extending the public’s trust, by assuring them that we are focussing on the types of crime and anti-social behaviour as determined within each neighbourhood’s own priorities. The continued collaboration between the police, partners and the public will make a real difference in improving neighbourhoods.
Being the police commander for South Leicestershire is something special to me and a role I am immensely proud to take on. I aim to be actively involved, across the Area, to make South Leicestershire a great place to live, work and visit.
