8th September 2010, Insp Shane O'Neill
Sergeant Danny Graham and Pc Owen Lenton broke fast on Monday 6 September 2010 at Masjid Umar with the invitation of the committee and community.
The two Stoneygate neighbourhood officers were invited to join the breaking of fast during one of the days of Ramadan to understand the impact on the community the team had been working with to reduce crime and disorder in the Evington Road area for the last month.
The two were congratulated for last eating and drinking early Sunday evening and then sharing food at the mosque on Monday evening and observing prayers.
Danny and Owen said they were very welcome to have shared the experience and were made very welcome by all who were interested to hear how they had done.
Egg throwing leads to Bucket and Brush resolution
7th September 2010, Insp Shane O'Neill
Last Thursday (August 26) the Stoneygate team were out and about on their patrols around Evington Road when they became aware of a resident on Halsbury Street who had experienced eggs being thrown outside and on some landing on his driveway.
The team had seen some young people earlier that evening nearby and approached them again to see their tops with egg yolk on them.
The two young people apologised and volunteered to clean up the affected householders driveway with a brush and bucket!
The outcome was swift community resolution and clean driveway.
The Stoneygate team will continue to patrol the area and try to resolve matters as quickly as possible.
Residents pleased with St Austell Road ABA.
3rd September 2010, Insp Shane O'Neill
On the 18 August 2010 a resident on St Austell Road was served an Anti Social Behaviour Agreement (ABA) by the Thurncourt Neighbourhood Team and the Housing Office.
The agreement was following reports of loud parties and associated behaviour at the address of a series of weekends that upset and caused nuisance for the neighbours in the area for a couple of months.
Full consultation done in the area confirmed the extent of the problem and allowed the resident to be approached and was genuinely remorseful for the effect it was having on his neighbours and since the intervention residents have reported the area is fine and all those affected have been informed of the outcome and are pleased with the results.
This was only possible due to the full co-operation of the community and the dedication and tenacity of Pcso Ken Huddart and the Housing Officer Sharon Reid.
