Inspector Bill Knopp
Inspector Bill Knopp is the new commander for Spinney Hill Park local policing unit.He joined Leicestershire Constabulary in 1993 after previously serving for four years in West Yorkshire Police.
Since then he has performed various roles in Leicester city as an operational police officer, for example as a neighborhood officer at Asfordby Street police station, the Neighbourhood sergeant for the St Matthews estate, before being promoted as Inspector at Hinckley Road local policing unit in 2004.
Since 2008 Inspector Knopp has worked in the Community Safety Bureau overseeing diverse areas of Policing such as Domestic Abuse, Youth Involvement and Community Cohesion. He has a particular interest in tackling hate crime both in increasing communities’ confidence in reporting incidents, and bringing the offenders to justice.
Inspector Knopp said “I am delighted to be moving to Spinney Hill Park local policing unit and have a genuine attachment to the area and its residents. I look forward to building on existing relationships, and making new links with communities. Spinney Hill Park local policing unit has a strong tradition of neighbourhood policing, and I am proud to be part of that team again.”
He said: “The success of neighbourhood policing depends on understanding local concerns so we can work with partners and the community to address these issues. We will continue to hold regular consultations and I would encourage local people to use these opportunities, or contact us directly to tell us what they think.
