End of year success. 220 less victims of crime, domestic burglaries reduced
30th December 2011, Insp Richard Toone
As we approach the end of 2011 I thought I would reflect on how we are faring so far in tackling crime this financial year.
There are 220 less victims of crime. This is the total of all crime offences. There are some categories where we are doing really well and some where we are facing a challenge into the new year.
There are 59 less offences of house burglaries, 18 less offences where a vehicle has been stolen and 91 less offences of criminal damage.
The challenges we face are in the categories of theft from motor vehicles (where we have seen a large percentage of offences in which number plates have been stolen) and burglaries in sheds, outhouses, retail or commercial premises.
What I can tell you is that our Neighbourhood Police Officers and PCSO's supported by our Neighbourhood Action Team and Response colleagues will be striving in 2012 to prevent crime, catch offenders and protect the vulnerable.
