Inspector Richard Toone

Inspector Richard Toone joined Leicestershire Constabulary in 1988 and has been an operational police officer in a variety of roles across the Force area.

He has previously been stationed at Welford Road as a police constable and sergeant and is thoroughly enjoying his current role working with partner agencies and communities tackling the issues that are important to them. Inspector Toone is keen to enhance neighbourhood policing, and strive to provide a service that is tailored to suit local needs and based upon priorities, such as anti-social behaviour, which have been identified through consultation with local people.

During 2010, the Welford Road local policing unit has achieved some really positive results in a lot of the categories of crime. All crime is down 3.4 per cent, which has led to 114 fewer victims.

The categories of dwelling burglaries, robberies and theft from and of motor vehicles together are down 13.3 per cent (which means there are 80 fewer victims). Offences of violence are down 23.6% (83 fewer victims).

Inspector Toone said: “This is really pleasing as this is showing year on year reductions. I am determined we will build on this progress through 2011.”
