This Information Management Policy with its associated procedures provides a mandate for the performance of all information management functions within the Force and will assist the Force to comply with the relevant legislation and national guidance.

This policy lays out the conditions for the effective management of records by the Leicestershire Police for a legitimate policing purpose, by introducing and complying with the national minimum agreed standards for the retention of records.

This policy is now available via the College of Policing APP - Authorised Professional Practice section. Crimes involving domestic abuse are serious crimes. In extreme cases incidents of domestic abuse can lead to homicide. The fact that the crime is committed in a domestic setting is an aggravating factor due to the abuse of trust and this will be reflected in the Police response to it. Leicestershire Police will investigate domestic abuse as a crime.

There are several areas of Force business where it is likely that an appeal, dispute or complaint will be made following the decision to disclose certain information or withhold certain information from disclosure. These procedures cover disputes/reviews from decisions made in these areas of Force business: Data Protection Subject Access; Freedom of Information; Criminal Records Bureau Disclosures; Exceptional Case Review
