A Leicestershire special police constable has been dismissed without notice following a gross misconduct hearing.
Between January 2023 and September 2023, SPC Kayleigh-Mae Knight was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour namely confidentiality; discreditable conduct; orders and instructions; and authority, respect and courtesy.
It was found that SPC Knight took four images on her personal phone of information on policing computer systems.
In September 2023, SPC Knight sent one of these images to two people known to her without a policing purpose. The recipients of the image were not policing colleagues.
Chief Constable Rob Nixon said: “While the officer has shown significant remorse and reflection, and the actions were not driven out of any sense of personal gain or deliberate intent, this conduct represented a lack of consideration for confidential information within police systems.
“The force and the public rightly expect the highest possible control and care of police data and I was left with no other choice but to reach a conclusion of dismissal without notice.
“I have also indicated for the officer’s details to be included within the Police Barred List.”
