Misconduct hearing outcome - Police Constable

A Leicestershire police constable has been dismissed without notice after it was found she had breached standards of professional behaviour.

An accelerated misconduct hearing heard that while undertaking core initial training this year, the officer asked her core trainer if she could take time off during one day to attend a hospital appointment.

It was found the officer did not have a hospital appointment but instead travelled to Tunisia for a pre-arranged holiday.

On the same day, the officer messaged fellow student officers with false and/or deliberately misleading information that she was at hospital.

The hearing found this conduct breached standards of professional behaviour, namely honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities and discreditable conduct.

Chief Constable Rob Nixon said: “The officer involved had worked extremely hard to get into the force. However, her actions to lie and then repeat that lie is unacceptable. I was left with no choice but to reach the decision of dismissal without notice.

“Honesty and integrity is a fundamental part of policing. Any act of misconduct will be investigated and the appropriate action taken to ensure that public trust and confidence in our hardworking and dedicated serving officers continues to be maintained.”

The Chief Constable also indicated for the officer to be placed on the Police Barred List.
