A man has been left with serious injuries following a collision on the M1 near Lutterworth.
Officers were called to the incident on the southbound carriageway between junction 21 and 20 at around 11.40am on Tuesday (28 January).
The collision involved a private transport ambulance and a lorry.
A passenger in the private transport ambulance – a man in his 40s – was taken to University Hospital of Coventry with serious injuries following the incident. He currently remains in hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.
A man and two women, who were also in the vehicle, suffered minor injuries. They attended hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.
The driver of the lorry was not injured.
Enquiries remain ongoing into the incident and officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who has any information to make contact.
Police Constable Andy Richardson said: “The incident happened at a busy time on the motorway and so there will have been a number of people in the area at the time.
“We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the collision and ask anyone who has any information in relation to the incident to make contact.
“Were you in the area of the collision at the time? Did you witness the incident or did you see either of the vehicles being driven beforehand? Do you have any dashcam footage from the area at the time?
“If you do have any information and have not yet spoken with us, then please make contact.”
