A 25-year-old man has been charged with firearms and drugs offences.
They relate to an incident on Monday (23 March), whereby it was reported a firearm had been seen in a car as it travelled on the M1 in Leicestershire.
Following the report, Jorgaq Veraj, of Norfolk Gardens, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, was arrested in Bedfordshire. He was arrested following partnership work between Leicestershire Police, Northamptonshire Police and Bedfordshire Police.
Veraj has been charged with:
• Two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence • One count of possession of cannabis with intent to supply • One count of dangerous driving • One count of driving while disqualified • One count of driving without insurance
He is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday).
• A 21-year-old woman who was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of cannabis with intent to supply has been released under investigation.
