Enquiries carried out after gun shots heard in Leicester

Police are investigating after a report of gun shots were heard in the Leicester area last night.

Armed officers attended Mallory Place following a report received at around 6.20pm on Saturday (16 May) that gun shots had been heard. It was also reported two vehicles left the street at speed shortly after the shots were heard.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries to establish what may have happened which has included a search of the area, speaking to local residents and reviewing nearby CCTV.

“While we have already spoken to a number of people in the immediate area, I would be keen to speak to anyone who may have any information about these vehicles or their occupants.

“We believe they may be connected to our investigation and I would urge anyone who has any information about these two vehicles or the circumstances surrounding the report to please get in touch with us.”
