Investigation launched after body of woman found in Leicester address

Detectives are investigating after the body of a woman was discovered inside an address in Leicester
Officers attended the property in Tennis Court Drive at around 10.30am yesterday (Thursday 15 April) following the concern for the welfare of the occupant inside.
Once entry was gained, the body of a woman, in her forties, was found inside.
The woman’s family have been informed of her death and are being supported by specialist officers at this time.
A post mortem examination took place yesterday (Friday) and concluded she died as a result of a head injury.
A scene preservation remains in place to allow for a forensic examination of the scene and enquiries to be carried out at the address.
As part of the investigation officers are carrying out enquiries following an incident which took place in Norfolk yesterday morning.
A 54 year-old man from Leicester was found on a beach in Hunstanton with life-threatening injuries after it is believed he fell from the cliffs. He remains in hospital where his condition is described as critical.
Detective Chief Inspector Joe Banfield from East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is leading the investigation.
He said: “At this stage, we believe the two incidents are linked and we are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.
“Officers are in the area of Tennis Court Drive and Hunstanton conducting a number of enquiries and will be speaking to local residents to see if they saw or heard anything which may be connected to what happened.
“I would therefore like to appeal to anyone who hasn’t spoken to police who may have any information related to this incident to get in touch.
“The information you may have could prove extremely important to our investigation so please do not hesitate to get in touch.”
