A man has died following a collision near junction 19 of the M1 northbound this morning (Friday).
Officers were called to the collision which involved a lorry and a pedestrian at 6.34am.
East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene.
It was confirmed that the pedestrian, a man in his 60s, had sadly died at the scene. The man’s family has been informed.
No other injuries were reported.
Enquiries currently remain ongoing at the scene.
Road closures have been put in place and are likely to remain in place throughout the morning to allow initial enquiries to be completed.
Detective Constable John Borlase, from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “A man has sadly died in this collision. We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident including speaking to people at the scene.
“Anyone who was driving in the area this morning and who has any information which could help our enquiries should get in touch if you have not already done so. If you have any dashcam footage which could assist us, you should also make contact.”
