Detectives from West Leicester CID are continuing to investigate an incident where a man was assaulted by a group of people yesterday (Sunday 1 August) – and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
It happened in Pindar Road shortly before 6pm, close to a park where police believe a number of people will have spent the evening.
The victim – a man in his 30s – was approached by four men who got out of a black Mercedes. He was hit with what he believed to be a pole and the group then left the scene in the car. The man remains in hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.
Detective Sergeant Nick Woodrow, from West Leicester CID, said: “While the investigation into this assault is continuing, I would like to ask anyone who saw what happened but has not yet come forward to do so.
“From what we know so far, there were a number of people enjoying an evening in the park and given the location, will have likely seen events unford.
“Any information you have – whether you were an eyewitness or have footage from a dashcam or doorbell – could help our investigation.”
