Thomas Gamble died after he was involved in a collision in Willougby Waterleys in December last year.
On Friday (13 August) 19-year-old Brennan Carpenter was jailed for 15 months after pleading guilty to causing death by careless driving.
Thomas’ family issued the following tribute following the conclusion of the court proceedings.
“A tribute to a son and a serviceman. Thomas (pictured), a young man beyond his years, who displayed humility, pride and quiet ambition, his virtue and ability to demonstrate cheerfulness in the presence of adversity, an uncommon value by today's standards.
“A serviceman that recognised his obligation and ability in service of the Crown. A young man that rejected the mediocrity that is now common place in societal norms, it was indeed an honour to be your father.”
