Investigation continues into Hinckley Road collision

An investigation into a collision in Leicester’s Hinckley Road is continuing – and officers would still like to speak to any witnesses who have not yet come forward.
At around 11.30pm on Saturday (3 July) a black Volkswagen Golf R collided with a blue Nissan Micra close to the roundabout with New Parks Way.
Police attended with colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service and the driver of the Micra – a woman in her 20s – was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.
She remains in hospital, where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries.
The occupants of the Golf left the scene on foot, but following initial enquiries a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He has since been released on bail.
Detective Constable Louise McMahon, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “While one person was arrested in connection with this incident, we are continuing to carry out further enquiries and would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened.
“I would ask anyone with dashcam footage of the incident – or who saw either vehicle prior to the collision – to come forward if they’ve not done so already.
“It’s not too late to pass information on to us. Anything you’re able to provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could help our investigation.”
