Detectives are appealing for information after a man suffered a serious stab wound injury following an incident in Abbey Park Road, Leicester, yesterday (Tuesday 13 July)
Officers were called by a member of the public at around 1pm reporting a fight between a group of men in the area near the entrance to Abbey Park.
Officers attended the scene and initial enquiries were carried out.
Shortly after, it was reported that a man had attended hospital with a serious stab wound injury. This is believed to be connected to the incident reported. The man, who is in his 30s, currently remains in hospital with serious injuries.
No other serious injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
Officers remain at the scene and in the area and a full investigation is ongoing.
Detective Inspector Esther Scott said: “A man is in hospital with serious injuries and a full investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident. This includes officers in the area carrying out a number of enquiries including speaking with witnesses and analysing CCTV.
“We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who has not yet spoken with us to make contact. We know a number of people were in the area for the fair and so may have seen something or have some information that could help.
“Were you in the area of Abbey Park and Abbey Park Road yesterday afternoon? Did you see or hear anything which caused you concern? Do you have any CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time? If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please ensure you speak with us.
“We do also understand that the incident will have caused concern in the area and we remain determined to find the person or people responsible for this. Officers also remain in the area providing reassurance – please do also speak with them.
“We are treating this as an isolated incident and the incident does not have any connection to the fair.”
