Second man arrested in connection with Melton Road robbery

A second man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following an incident in Melton Road last week.
A 23-year-old man, of Leicester, was arrested on Friday (16 July) following the incident last Wednesday (14 July).
A 19-year-old man of Leicester had also been arrested earlier on Friday on suspicion of robbery.
Both men have since been released on bail and enquires are ongoing.
Shortly before 5pm on Wednesday 14 July, a woman was approached by a moped rider and pillion passenger close to the junction with Shaftesbury Avenue. They grabbed her handbag, pulling her to the ground before riding off.
The victim was taken to hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening or life-changing.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing. Anyone who has any information and who has not yet contacted police is urged to do so.
