Four people have been arrested in Green Lane Road murder investigation
Police have four people in custody following the murder of Usman Patel on the 18 July in Green Lane Road, Leicester.
Usman, aged 32, was stabbed at around 2.18am near to a residential property on Green Lane Road. Despite the best efforts of the East Midlands Ambulance Service, he died at the scene.
Overnight police have arrested three men and a woman from residential addresses in North Evington who remain in police custody.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 17-year-old youth was arrested on suspicion of murder.
A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The enquiries continue on what is a fast moving and complex investigation and police are keeping an open mind as to the motive for the murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Yarwood from the East Midlands Operations Unit said:
“I want to appeal to anyone who has information about this murder.
“Our communities play a very important role in helping police and I urge anyone who can help us to come forward. It is important to remember that a family have lost a loved one. We are determined to hunt down and prosecute the person or persons responsible for this murder and bring them to justice.
“We will not tolerate the carrying and use of knives on the streets of Leicester. The devastation this can cause is significant and I want to reassure the local community that we do not underestimate this.”
