Four men have been arrested and a significant amount of cannabis growing equipment have been seized following a tip-off regarding suspicious activity at an address in Leicester.
At around 12.30am on Wednesday 9 June, a member of the public contacted police to report what appeared to be a group of men loading up a van from a property in Wolverton Road. The caller reported seeing what they believed to be plants and paraphernalia being moved.
Officers were deployed to attend the report and following a search of the house and the vehicle, cannabis growing equipment including plant pots, halogen lights, fertiliser liquid, fans as well as other equipment were recovered. Also found was a large bag of off cuts from previous cannabis plants.
Four men were arrested at the scene on suspicion of production of cannabis and have released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Jim Muzzell, from City CID, said: “The quick-thinking action of this person contacting us and reporting their suspicions led the successful seizure of a substantial quantity of equipment suspected in the use of cannabis production.
“Drug use has a significant impact on local communities and I would urge anyone who has information about drug use in their community to contact us. The more information we receive, the better placed we are at tackling that problem and carrying out action such as this.”
