Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Braunstone Town.
The incident happened sometime between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday 15 May as the victim approached the underpass on the Kingsway and noticed a group of men standing nearby.
As he made his way through the underpass towards Narborough Road South, he was approached by two of the men from the group before he was punched in the face causing him to lose consciousness.
A member of the public found him injured and came to his assistance. The victim later attended hospital and received treatment which included surgery to a broken jaw.
Detective Constable Joanna Price is investigating the incident said: “Unfortunately there was a delay in the incident being reported to police but despite this, the victim has been able to give us a good description of the men involved.
“Both are described as eastern European. The one who punched the victim is described as between 25 and 30-years-old, around 6ft 2ins tall and of a stocky build. He had very short hair shaven more around the sides and facial stubble. He was wearing a ‘Pre London’ black gilet, a grey or white coloured top underneath, jeans and white Nike Airman 95 trainers. The second man is described as in his mid-twenties, around 5ft 5ins tall and of a slim to medium build. He had dark hair and a moustache. He was wearing black jeans and black Nike TN trainers.
“The member of the public who helped is described as white and between 25 to 30-years-old with mousey blond/brown hair.
“Regardless of the time that he passed, I would still urge anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch. Perhaps you saw that same group on the night or have seen them since? Maybe you know the people involved? If you do, or you are indeed that member of the public who helped, please contact us. This man sustained a significant injury, so we want to find those responsible.”
