Around 11.45am on Friday 16 April it was reported that a woman returned to her car on Cossington Street near the junction with Belgrave Road when two men approached her.
One of the men said she had dropped money on the floor and while the woman got out of her car to search the floor, a second man approached the other side of the car, opened the rear passenger door and stole a black handbag.
The bag reportedly contained Asian jewellery with an estimate value of £50,000.
Both men left the scene on foot towards Wand Street where they reportedly got into a blue Ford Focus and drove away.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who recognises this man or has any information that could help identify him.
They would also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area at the time and who may have captured the men or the car on dash cam.
Also, anyone who sees or is offered the jewellery pictured for sale is urged to get in touch.
